Williamstown Baptist Church meets at various times and in various places, but uses Beth Tephillah Ministry Centre as a resource base and hub for the Beth Tephillah Simple Church Network.
Beth Tephillah Ministry Centre is located in a house at 55 Park Crescent, Williamstown, Victoria 3016.
The leadership team currently consists of Malcolm and Diana Dow, pastors, and Arthur Donohue, administrator. However, this team is likely to expand as we focus on every member being a disciple and taking responsibility for what Jesus has gifted and called them for.
In case you are expecting to see a list of meeting times and events on this page, let me explain a little about our church:
Our approach to church life consists of meatings rather than meetings, and people sharing life together where they live, while only coming together for larger gatherings when appropriate. We do not do sefvices because we do not believe that God needs servicing. Rather, we celebrate his presence whether we are together or apart, as individuals, in small groups of two or more, and as a larger gathering when we all get together. We also enjoy gathering with the larger church of Hobsons Bay and further afield for great events.
Evangelism is a person-to-person process, rather than trying to get people to come to a ‘service’ in the hope that they might meet Jesus there when the pastor or evangelist preaches. If someone enquires about joining our church, we will probably seek to meet with a coupe of our people over coffee and talk about it. A likely outcome of this might include one of a number of things.
- They might be invited to join one of the existing simple/house churches in our network.
- They might have a new simple church formed around them, meeting either in their home or at some other mutually convenient place.
- They might be invited to a seminar on what God is doing through the simple, organic, house church movement.
- If they are definitely looking for a different kind of church than we can provide, they might be recommended to one of the other churches in the area with whom we have a good relationship.
Williamstown Baptist Church is a constituted church of the Baptist Union of Victoria, which is currently exploring many new ways of being church in our time and culture. However, simple churches in our network may or may not choose to be Baptist.
Williamstown Baptist Church is associated with Oikos, the simple church and house church friendship nework for Australia. Malcolm and Diana are Oikos Regional Team for Melbourne Western Suburbs.
The Beth Tephillah Ministry Centre, which offers healing prayer ministry and counselling for the body of Christ, and periodically runs seminars and courses on aspects of prayer ministry, counselling, discipleship, and supernatural living, is part of the Healing Prayer Ministries Network. Malcolm and Diana also provide private prayer counselling appointments for more difficult issues.
Malcolm has a growing Internet ministry, and is the webmaster (webservant!) for this and many other sites through The Roaring Mouse Network.
